Are you talking tire to fender? It looks pretty close. My car sits up pretty high, 28.5" from the middle of the rear fenders to the ground.

When I took the sprag apart there was a lot of shrapnel, looks like you threw it all in a blender. I am glad that it is enclosed, so all of that crap cannot circulate.

The car didn't seem to hook as well in the middle hole, I also have an adjustable torque arm relocation bracket, but that is in the "stock" position. Pinion angle is about -2.5 degrees right now. The rear LCA angle looks to be about -3.5 degrees in the bottom hole.

You are probably right. After some research, there is about 5 lbs difference in the spring rates. Which should not do too much of anything.

If you have stock springs in the rear, even with a heater hose mod you probably want to use the top hole in the brackets. Use an angle finder, thats where i have mine with 3/4" drop spring and isolator still in place and its perfect.

The further downhill the bar is running the harder it hits the tires but the faster it will unload too.

Looks like it still had a few elements intact, could explain why it held during cruise

                Was yours a 26 or 29 element?

The one I broke was 29 elements, with a single cage.
I installed a borg warner dual cage unit last night.

I tried the top hole, it didn't feel as good as the it does in the bottom.

1.5-2 degrees is a good place to start. Also moving the TQ arm bracket around will effect things.

So 3.5 going downward is too much?
Where should I start the TQ arm adjustment?

Thats the aggravating part, it just got rebuilt 31,xxx miles ago by aamco transmission. I was sceptical from day 1 then start experiencing problems in warranty that satisfied the symptoms of torque converter shudder then within this last month it slowly but surely broke apart. exact symptoms as yours. ill never ever go back to aamco. im buying a built one now. swapping one a built one will be much more worth it.

I have heard some bad stuff about their build too.
The built trans idea is a good one.
I am saving for one now

Keep in mind too much angle might feel better on a part throttle launch, but a full throttle or stalled up launch could hit the tires too hard and it will kick itself away from the ground. I agree with mike, 1.5-2 degrees is ideal. Thats where mine is and it launches flat pretty much all around.
