  • More 4L60E issues.

My 4l60e will not move in over drive or drive. With the shifter in D or OD it acts like neutral, no idle change, no pressure change.
Reverse feels fine and exhibits the normal 150ish rpm drop.
    If I start in 1st I can manually shift 1 2 D OD.

Once I get it into OD and let the car coast down to where it should down shift into 3rd, it will act like neutral.

    Anyone have any ideas?
Once it is manually shifted into 4th gear it drives fine. Pressure is about 70psi @ idle, jumps to about 125-140 in reverse
It pegs 200 pretty easily revving to 4,000 or so.

Forward sprag is toast, moves freely in both directions.
Installing a 29 element dual cage unit now.
Sad I broke it with one launch, but I guess after unknown miles and wear before I had it.

26x11.5 et streets. I need more gearing and softer rear springs sometime soon.

That wasn't a good night at the track, my dad broke a 20 year old Mark Williams axle on his first pass too.

It can be wasted energy, but a lot of guys cut better times with the V6 rear springs from a pre 1998 car.

I'm pretty sure thats a myth and if anything they are just making up for lack of an actual working suspension.

It is sloped downward to the rear end, in the bottom hole of my relocation brackets.

Look at the pic and compare rear separation to when sitting still. Some is ok. Not much. If stock height move it 1 hole. The angle should be very little to the axle . To much angle will hit the tire , shove it into te ground and actually bounce the tire back up. Think nocooler has a vid of his doing it.

being able to hit 3rd and 4th by manually shifting is weird! A bad sprag wouldn't allow any forward movement in those gears regardless of how it got there...and it sucks you had to tear it down again
