Oil Consumption?

Well im do for an oil change just came up to the mark, but my low oil light came on so i pulled over and checked the oil and it was about 1 1/2qts. low. is it common for the ls1 to consume that much oil? i checked for leaks the motor is dry as a bone.

Yes, I found this same thing out shortly after I bought mine as well. It has to do with the PCV system. 4000 RPM's is the key. Basically, the more you have the RPMs above 4000 the more you'll use. I go through an extra quart or 2 per summer. I've just gotten into the habit of checking it every time I put gas in and I keep a quart in the back.

There is a way to eliminate this or upgrade it, however I'm not familiar with it. But I'm sure if you search LS1tech.com its there.

It is common. Just pay close attention to it. Ill have to look for the write up on the pcv valve..i know what your talking about OT.

you can get the truck restrictor(replaces the PVC valve)
change to the Ls6 valley cover (requires notching some blocks)
or get a catch can like me
