  • LT1 Clutch recommendations?

It's come to be that time. 130,000 miles and my throwout bearing is finally starting to let go. I'm gonna save myself some trouble and just replace the clutch while its all apart. Does anyone have any recommendations for replacements? I'm looking to keep it relatively cheap-er, not going to need anything for high HP as my car isn't going to be seeing any significant mods until like...6 years from now.

I was pretty happy with my Competition Clutch Stage 2. Was less than $300 for the complete kit.

Just go OEM replacement then, that one lasted 130K miles...

I just replaced mine with a RAM clutch heard good things about them, also SPEC as well. Had a SPEC on my last car.

Spec stage 2 or stage 2+ is what I had in my car with bolt ons. Had great drivability with it

Honestly it doesnt really matter as the kits are all so similar. Valeo makes the pressure plate similar to the LT4 style for all parts brands, Ram, Spec, Zoom etc.

The friction disc is the only difference.

I went with a "perfection clutch" for my car from Advanced Auto because of the lifetime warranty. Havnt had any problems with it.

I can recommend a NEW iron stock flywheel. Not a remanufactured, not lightweight. Hated the lightweight flywheel that was on my car when I bought it, have a remanufactured one on it now thats 99% perfect but a few times it slips if I dont rev it high enough.

I will also advise you to double check the throwout bearing. My first clutch kit had a defective(and recalled) TB. The collar on the inside was too small. Because of this I needed a new kit not even 2000 miles later. Once I got the correct one havnt had any problems.

                Incorrect part.

I explained this mess to my parts store, a regional rep, and someone form Perfection. Needless to say the kit thats in my car was free and they should have pulled all the bad parts.

Well I'm going to try out the Comp Clutch stage 2.5 Kit(#4134-2375). It may be more than I need but for the deal I'm getting on it I can't pass it up

I have a Centerforce Dual Friction, with the factory flywheel (dual friction is made for OEM flywheel material) I love it, never ever had a slip or problem. Head/Cam car

I had a RAM clutch before that, SUCKED. Broke it in, roasted it! POS waste of money. Clutch=don't cheap out, do it once!

I guess I should probably inform everyone that the clutch is already on the car

My future setup involves a aluminum flywheel. with a dual friction, is that bad..?
