  • Valve job cost?

What is a good estimated cost of a valve job? Trying to get a good idea of how much it will cost me. Thanks

When you say valve job do you mean completely rebuild the cylinder heads or just grind on a couple valves here and there? Those prices will be wildly different. So I guess it depends on how much work your heads need. With that being said I would say between a couple hundred and 7-800.

Couple hundred for a few valves and 7 to 8 for a full head job?

It really depends. What is this for? If you needed everything replaced in the heads, complete rebuild then often times it is cheaper to buy new heads. If you have a couple leaky valves that can be fixed with a grind and maybe a valve guide or two then ya couple hundred bucks ought to cover it. It can vary so much that it's really hard to give you an estimate unless you know exactly what is wrong with them. And I am assuming you are wanting machine work cost and not cost for a shop to disassemble send to a shop and reassemble.

I assume you're talking about the 5.7 in the Iroc? Depending on the head casting, I would use them as boat anchors or do nothing more than a standard rework.

I wouldn't pump a ton of money into them. For the cost of making the 5.3 heads really nice you can buy a really nice set of heads that are ready to bolt on.

$450 should get you a nice set of used 243's

243(799) is a much better casting head. Flows very good numbers and even better when ported. IMO its the best stock casting cathedral port head. They have actually sold on here for in the $350 range a few times.
