Re: Second Look...95 Formula
I've been driving by the car on my way into work all winter. Two weeks ago when my dd timing belt broke it motivated me to camp out next to the bird until I talked with owner. So this morning i was lucky enough to find him home. I got the story... when it was a year old the original owner had the dealer install the hood and ram air box, also the story of the condition now... reason he stopped driving the bird was of it stalling while driving. I haven't witnessed this yet and I did let her run in the driveway also drove it home. Before driving her home me and the owner spent most of the day textin a dollar....I started at $800 before I left his house this morning and he was at $2400. at 9:24pm we had a deal. I rushed over paid him singed.... installed new battery that I had here and was in my drive @ 10
I'll be selling the rims and tires so I don't go over budget getting her ready for the road.I'm going to try and stay under $2000.
My last dd I picked up for $300 in 2010.

Re: Second Look...95 Formula
I might hold off awhile before selling...(my son has me almost convinced to keep them) also if I do sell I have a guy I work with that might be interested. But you'll be next inline. Sorry man!Originally posted by dirtybird View Posthow much are you trying to get out of the rims? also great deal btw, im jealous, i paid 3100 for my formula without a ram air hood or corvette wheels lol
Yeah I got a real good deal.. with a 180km (110miles) on the clock but the underside a little rusty I think the bird has seen her share of over salted Canadian winter roads.
On the plus side.. I mght have the shutting off problem fixed. I'll take it out again tonight after work and hope I'm not working on it in someones driveway like yesterday.

its cool, and youre really making me jealous now. i got my bird at 101xxx with some rust, including a nice fist sized hole under the gas cap door lol. also the opti was on its way out and it stalled 3 or 4 times driving it home. the only thing im proud of it for is its got the lt4 top end, so i keep up with stock ls1s at the track, even with the tiny 2.73 rear end i just found out was in it lmao.sigpic

Re: Second Look...95 Formula
Before buying I seen the back floor pans were bad, salt side the worse like usually. I totally missed the front frame being rotten, also the k member is rusted through on drivers side.Originally posted by ktl711 View PostWhat? You mean it doesn't even have enough structure to be driveable?
It really sucks because the car runs strong and the trans is solid.
The car did spend 13 years in the snowbelt area here in Ontario and was driven all year round. There's so much structural rot front and back I'm not going to bother. If it was just floor and repairing quarters I'd be ok with.
Another option I guess I have is locating a clean six cylinder and switch over.

That was my first thought after seeing the pics and you saying everything runs well.Originally posted by Dave View PostBefore buying I seen the back floor pans were bad, salt side the worse like usually. Or, watch for a good roller. There was a nice on on MotownMuscle a while back, but I just checked and it sold

Yeah sounds like a solid v6 roller and then do a swap would be your best bet -- sucks about the rot. I hate being under my car because it reminds me of how bad my rot is too...- Brian Meissen
