  • Need some advice 1993 SLP Firehawk

Need some advice. I'm looking to pick up a 1993 SLP Firehawk over the internet so I can't inspect it myself. Thought it might be a nice addition and something to play with. From all indications and several pictures the car's body and interior are in great shape with no rust and a very straight body. The interior is cloth and in great shape and all the guages and electrical work, I am told. (I can't believe that the steering wheel audio controls still work but he says they do) The owner swears the car runs great with no issues at all. here is my dilema, the car has over 150K on it so i am pretty skeptical. i have a 1993 Trans Am but it has less than 6K on it so I really don't know what kind of life I can expect out of the engine. Oh yeah the price - under $6,000. What do you think? What are your experiences with high mileage LT1's and does anyone have experience with an %old Firehawk?

Personally I think the price is high for a car with over 150k miles on it. I would think that would be more down in the $4k range. And I would say with that many miles even if the LT1 is well taken care of with proper maintenance and little ragging on it, there's a lot around the engine that is getting a lot of miles on it. Engine accessories, transmission, rear end, etc.

Maybe for an average firebird. But i think of this is a true firehawk then the rpo codes should boost even a 150k+ car into the 5,500 to 6k range. Just my .02

definitely a true firehawk. saw a pic of the codes and all the SLP badging. Also chedked it thru the Firhawk registry and it is legit. I was thinking that for a legit firehawk with all the documentation and records maybe the price wasn't all that bad. thanks for the opinion.

                Can you post pics?

My car has 175k on it and shows no signs of letting me down.

I'd have no hesitation in buying it if you could agree on a price you are both happy with.

Personally, if that thing is as clean as it looks in pics, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. Even with the mileage, it's pretty hard to find an LT1 car that clean, plus it's a Firehawk and damn sexy. The ONLY thing I'd have a hard time with is that it's a 93, but if that doesn't bother you then go for it. Get a good mechanical inspection done and of course be prepared for things to go wrong, but that's true of any LT1 f-body that you could buy in today's market. Any car of that age really, high miles or not.
