Window motor replacement

Finally got around to replacing my bad passenger window motor this morning. Actually went a little better than I expected. Only took 90 minutes. It no longer takes 10 minutes to roll the window up or down.

It's a little hard to do the first time, but once you have it done the first time with new bolts (instead of the rivets), if you ever have to replace it again it's a quick job.

I'm gonna have to do this eventually and I've always heard that it's a pain. What usually trips people up? Do these have to be adjusted or do they just drop in like the newer cars?

It's not too bad. Only pain is trying to hold the window motor and the nut inside the door panel, then thread the bolt in from outside. And no, there's no adjustment. Best thing to do is get a dremmel with a tapered grinding bit on it to open up the holes in the fiberglass door panel.

Got a motor online. It was a while back, want to say under $30. There's a nice write up with pictures on LS1tech. Took about 25 minutes to take off the door panel and get the old motor out. Like Fred said the hardest part is getting the nut/bolt to remount the motor. After you've done it once, it should be a lot easier.

It's not that bad, I've done two of them, one on my old 2000 Trans am, and just recently one on my 94 Formula. It took me about an hour with the help from a friend to hold up the window while working on it. If I had smaller hands it would have been that much easier.
