I do have a used opti, it will start your car and run, I was getting facky problems and replaced it, but still had problems after so could be good could be bad. I'll sell it for $25.00 plus shipping which will probably cost 20.00. I live in Macomb twp 48042 if you want to pick it up

Thank you sir, I'll keep it in mind. I'm going to check some other things first, and it none of it turns up the problem, I'll probably take you up on it. I did a search on that code again last night and found some interesting things causing a guys 96 Impala SS to do this exact same thing. It turned out to be the 4 springs in the connector and the vent for the opti being plugged. The belt may very well have smacked that connector at 6000r's when it came apart and damaged the internals. I'll let you know about the opti soon. Thanks again

well it was indeed the opti. Swapped them out today and wouldn't ya know it, it fired right up. Thank God it wasn't the PCM.
I'm going to clarify something here.. swapping out an opti is NOTHING bad at all! I did it myself in my garage on jackstands in 1 hour, no joke... and that's from the time I popped the hood till the time the car was running! Way easier than doing headers, motor mounts, plugs/wires or anything else i've done to this thing. It was seriously a piece of cake. I was dreading it after reading all of the posts on how hard it is to do.. then about an hour later, my car was running lol.
As soon as I took mine off, it leaked antifreeze out of the vent, so that was a relief to see. At least I knew I was on the right track. The only part that took anytime was getting the pulley off, had to go buy a pulley remover and then she popped right off.
I'm going to put an electric WP on now, while it's still apart. Thinking a CSR, any problems with these?!?
Also, want to do a cam swap. is the CC503 a good choice for a bolt on car with a tune? The numbers seem pretty good, not to wild, yet much better than stock.
Lastly, a huge thanks to Larry Meissen for the opti. I didn't want to go new and find out it was something else, so I bought his used one and saved a little dough.
The voltage was good everywhere except on the A and D terminals of the ICM connector, which meant that the problem lied between the pcm and the opti. There was an excellent video on youtube called "Buick know how" that explained the opti and troubleshooting it. The vid is 21 minutes long and should be viewed by everyone on here with the optispark setup.
Alright that's it, thank you everyone for the help, and thanks 93formulalt1 for stopping by and helping out.

No problem at all. Now that it's back up and running, you'll have to take me for a ride and show me what a factory freak feels like. Lol

Glad that worked for you. I do believe that it is a gm opti. It originally was on the 95 LT1 that we put in red alert. Brian put new opti on when he built the engine. I put that opti on my Firebird couple of years ago when I did new head gaskets and lifters. So there is probably only 65 to 70,000 miles of use on that opti.
