  • Help with LT1 removal. T56

What all needs to be done to drop the transmission out with the engine?

I took the shifter boot and knob off. The electrical connector that is right near it.

I took the reservoir off also.

    Any help is welcome.

There is a link on here for engine removal with trans. Only additional thing to do is to disconnect the clutch slave cylinder from the bell housing.

Don't forget to pull the clutch fork down.

are you pulling the engine and trans or just the trans either way it very easy once you unhook everything i just did it . if you pulling just the trans make sure like ryan said to pull the clutch fork down off of the release bearing or it will get hung up i left the bell housing on the block then i removed that after the trans was out made life easyer thats for sure.

Now, when trying to put the slave back in, the rod is too far extended.

How do you put it back in?

loosen the cap on the resivor and the just line up the slave with the clutch fork and push it in by hand that's how i did it a few times. by the way GM said that the master and slave should be replaced on every clutch replacement i now no why . if ya end up needing it the ws6 store has the gm unit for a $150 and they also sell the adjustable tick performance unit as well .
also the GM unit is complete and pre blead

                      Alright, thank you.

As it's not my car, he asked to just have it "put back on". So I'll try that.
