remove radiator, ect and do it?

Exactly. It'll be tight, but I know people have done cam swaps without yanking the engine.

There are a couple of instructional videos on youtube of guys doing a cam job on a Lt1 with the engine still in the car.

Remove radiator and tilt AC condenser back. No need to discharge it.

Can be done in a few hours

I'm with Larry though. Hotcam is a waste of time. A good 224 cam will have good manners and make more power.

I would think you need to change valve springs with cam. That means pulling the heads, or have compressor to hold valves up.

My son did a cam swap on a F-body LT1 and the hardest part was replacing the valve springs but after I made a valve spring compressor tool, they were a piece of cake to replace.

You don't need to pull the heads or motor to put valve springs in an LS F-body. Don't even need a compressor. Roll the cylinder your working on to TDC and the valve will sit on top of the piston.

But yes you need to change the valve springs no matter what cam you use.

He was probably thinking about the LT1, I've never heard of an LS1 hot cam.
