If I were you and your goal is 300 Hp. I would get tune done and then Dyno car. Doing RR will not change tune, but will give you a base line and then you can decide if you want to tackle the RR for small gain. 1:6 RR gives stock cam a little more lift on valves and does help it breath better. The $64.00 question is how much at the wheels, for the amount of work and cost.
I had my engine out and was replacing head gaskets and lifters and thought about doing RR 1:6 at the time without cam. Cost of RR and guild plates and new springs and push rods was not cost effective for gain in my book without cam. LT1 hot cam kit is most reasonable way to go. Anyway after I got engine back in car with only doing long tube headers I had Steve at SB tune do good tune on stock engine was amazed at the difference.

Thanks, guys. I plan on going to the dyno day on the 23rd, so we'll see where I'm at then. If a tune won't get messed up if I do end up doing RR's, I'll definitely do that first and see where that gets me.

EDIT: this is why I ask these kinds of questions hahaha
