front sway bar

i have a 98 Camaro, people keep telling me that I should take my front away bar off. I do street drive the car quite a bit and I don't have a rear drag bar yet, would it handle alright?

I took mine off before I ever even drove my car. Cant tell the difference honestly.

I disagree, I don't run mine at all but after I initially took it off I did notice a slight difference but really only noticable when taking a corner hard which I don't do anyways.

More or less you won't notice too much unless you're cornering hard like Jeff said. Even then, it's still completely drive-able, you'll just feel a little more lean when you turn. I don't know how long it was but when I went to do a brake job on my car I noticed neither of the ends were bolted down - the long bolt had rusted completely through.

I guess my post got deleted... Put it this way. I just upgraded to a spohn sway bar and it made a tremendous difference (for the better) in the feel of the car. Much more snug through corners and over bumps, it made the car a lot more fun to drive. So that said, i dont think the stock sway bar really does all that much. Id say run an upgraded one or dont bother. Personally id hate not having one.

If you enjoy using the car for what it was made to do, then you will want a front bar. If you are only concerned about going in a straight line then take it off.

Like everyone said, depends on what you want to do with the car. My car has never had a front sway bar.. Drives just fine for me.. But I'm not into cornering either.. Straight line and dinking around town..

IMO don't remove it unless you will be upgrading it!

I remember when I installed a 1LE front bar on my 2001, I wished I would have installed it 2 years earlier when I bought the car.
However I love handling- its part of the reason why my Tuner is so much fun to drive.
I have been known to jerk the wheel suddenly to avoid an animal, tire, or even a pot hole. Driving like this when the suspension isn't as balanced would be more dangerous.

judging by your list of mods in your sig, this aint no canyon carving unit anymore! I would say ditch that front bar and I bet you'll get off the line a little better! upgrade that rear bar though, either a drag bar, or an anti-roll bar like Wolfe's/Madman/Billingsley etc...

If you do take it off, post it for sale on here, there are plenty of folks that bought a fbody that had it deleted and want one to make their car handle good.
going fast in a straight line is OK, to me real thrill is taking corners or tight turns fast.
