  • What have you pulled behind your Fbody?

Hi guys, I was browsing one of my Hot Rod magazines and I was surprised at how many of the cars including at least 2 fbodies are pictured pulling small trailers. I got to thinking thats not a bad idea and I might like to try it. I have not seen any other threads like it so I started this one.

I know some of you have pulled boats around with your cars, but what did you notice while driving? Any unusual characteristics? Anything special to be careful of?

I would assume that that even my V6 should handle a very small utility trailer say for the HRPT. But is there anything I can do to help the car out? I was considering a set of adjustable air shocks similiar to what 93FormulaLT1 has on his car and a Hidden Hitch. Is there anything else I should look for? Thanks in advance

my brothers iroc actually has a hitch receiver bolted on it....kinda funny looking though

I wouldnt think you should have any issues with a small trailer, towing around 1500 lbs or less. I wouldnt spend the money on air shocks at all. Then just tapping into the rear wiring harness for trailer lights would be only issue unless they have a plug and play kit

Jon's Iroc has the factory trailer hitch on it as well, I would not pull anything with a F body.

                    Who took my car fishing!

I wouldnt haul much, Im 99% sure its rated for no weight and says towing is not recommended. Been a while since I looked it up. But a small trailer or something has less tongue weight that a fat kid in the back seat so, idk. lol

only thing ive ever pulled with my car is few mustangs and vetts... like towing anything, your going to have longer braking times. i cant imagine much tongue weight would be good for the stock 10bolt either. our cars have shocks and springs, not shocks and leaf springs like trucks, not sure how much they can handle back there. if i put 2 people in my back seat i can feel a big difference in my car.

I had 5 people in my Z28 and when I put it in drive I could hear the duals scrapping across the ground

Lol so that's why nicks firebird always great when we go over bumps. I really need to stop hiding in the backseat. seriously I just looking for something a to haul a set of slicks a toolbox and maybe some camping supplies or some firebird club materials. I figure it's better than trying to mod a roof rack on my firebird lol. actually I'm in process of building a hitch mounted cargo carrier for my truck to be nice if I could put that on the firebird
