Hey guys, this marks the 2nd year in a row that the SS is giving mme problems 2 weeks before the cruise. Last year it would pop out of drive and jump back in, this year theres a few issues.1. Random misfire2. Injector circuit3. cylinder 2 misfire. Now i deleted the air pump about 2 months ago, it was throwing a code for that. I hooked to code reader up yesterday to clear that code and thats when it started misfiring. Its not throwing the code for the air pump which is weird because i never had it tuned out. It was running fine before i hooked the reader up too. You can actually feel the motor stuggling when you stop in traffic and around 1500 RPM. Anywhere above that and it clears up like there isnt a problem.I drove it to work this morning since it was running fine, made it all the way to work before it gave me the cylinder 2 misfire CEL. If i clear it while im driving the misfire goes away. The plugs are about a year old, wires are 4-5 months, coil is a year old, opti is probably cloase to 15 years old. fuel pump is also a year old along with the fuel filter. Im stumped on this one. I may just park the car and transfer the plates and insurance the Wagon if i cant get this fixed asap.

I did just that on my lunch break. I only pulled #2 and #4. #2 is the one that is misfiring. They both looked real good, except the diodes? were pink, usually white. Part of them were partially brown too. My buddy and i are both leaning towards a bad injector. I wouldnt doubt if it is on its way out though, the car has 188K miles on it.Also could bad gas be the cause too? I would think it would make more than 1 injector act up

your welcome, let us know what you do and how it runs after, also check for stupid things like the connectors not plugged in or broken on the injectors, corroded fuses, connections etc'91 Camaro Modded, LSx, House of Kolor Intense White, lowered, GS chrome 18" wheels, 14" Brembo CTS-V on all 4 corners, LS rear end, FP suspension components

I would swap Injectors 3 and 1 with each other P0203 is cylinder 3 failure. reset codes and see if it moves to p0201 or stays with p0203 cylinder.sigpic

Guess i had a typo up there, it was actually P0202.Originally posted by Plum Nuts View PostI would swap Injectors 3 and 1 with each other P0203 is cylinder 3 failure. reset codes and see if it moves to p0201 or stays with p0203 cylinder.
I swapped injectors, same thing, it was throwing the code for cylinder 2 misfire. So i figured i'd try the next thing, swap computers. Ta-dah! It runs smooth. Sadly the computer i put in is from a 94 Caprice Wagon, so the shift points are a bit different, the speedo is off, the tach is off and its set up for 2.56 gears not 3.08's. Im getting that taken care of Sunday. While i had the fuel rails off, i went ahead and ordered some new injector seals. Im glad it didnt cost anything to fix this. Thanks for the input guys!96 BBB Impala SS-Fixed, Broke, Fixed again

Yesterday sucked. My buddy came up and put a stock 95 tune on it and deleted the Air Pump stuff since i removed it a couple of months ago. Also, for some stupid reason the knock sensor was throwing a code. Well, both are now disabled in the computer. We took it for a test drive and did a live monitor on what was going on. It shifted perfect at the correct point, but, the right primary o2 was reading incredibly low. He said he expects to see them operating from 800-1000 range, like the left primary was. The right one was reading under 100....not good. I also made a comment to my dad yesterday about how the 4l60e can go at any given second....he test drove it and did a burnout, and thats exactly what happened, the trans started slipping. I replaced the trans filter and gasket and all seems good so far. The pan was covered in shavings, as is the filter. Last time it was serviced was 5-19-99....guess we should have checked that a while ago. oops96 BBB Impala SS-Fixed, Broke, Fixed again

Well, the trans is DEAD. I was driving home yesterday and i could feel it slipping into 2nd gear. I made it home and decided to drive it after it cooled down a bit. All was good for about a mile, i pretty much lost 1st gear and barely made it home. Im pretty upset about it being the Dream Cruise is a week away, but also because were having our B-Body nationals starting Wednesday....I could swap another trans it, that has over 190K miles on it and it could possibly be bad too. Oh the joy of a 4l60E96 BBB Impala SS-Fixed, Broke, Fixed again
