So you want something affordable and better than what you currently have?
IMO I would just buy stock replacements and call it day.
If your budget grow there are better options but the stock replacements wil get you the most bang for you $.

Ive had good luck with Bilsteins. Far better then the stock decarbons, and decent on the price, under $400 for a set of 4. Ive always wanted to try Konis, but the price has always been too much.2011 Ford Raptor SuperCrew

I am not sure if you confused what I stated but I mentioned stock replacements like Monoe, Gabriel etc.Originally posted by MP81 View PostStock = DeCarbon, which you should avoid like the plague.
People have great luck with Bilsteins, and there's always the Koni option too. QA1s are good too.
I installed Monroe's in my 2001 Camaro and they were superior to the worn out Decarbons.
At the time I paid $130 for all four dampners at autozone, so dollar for dollar I could have bought 3 sets before buying bilsteins.
I am sure bilsteins would handle better but for MY use it was not worth the extra $250.
remember to factor in the cost of the strut mounts. I am sure your strut mount nut is seized and without the correct tools it is easier to replace the mount. I think they are $50 each and you need two.Last edited by bri2203; March 10th, 2011, 08:56 AM.

Well I read it that way too, but i get what you meant. Your decarbons may not have even been worn out - they are junk when theyre new.Originally posted by bri2203 View PostI am not sure if you confused what I stated but I mentioned stock replacements like Monoe, Gabriel etc.

KYB makes a good budget replacement shock. Made a big difference on my car over the stock decarbons, but ultimately i want a set of adjustables.-Joel

ha ha, I never said "fun" It was a V6 so the fun factor is limited.Originally posted by nascarnate326 View PostYou cant possible be serious. You cant have fun on anything that comes from a parts store. Silly Brian.
I drove it for an addition 48,000 miles after and it did everything I wanted it to do well.
I am sure I would have preferred a higher performance dampners but when I bought the car I had a budget... I allowed myself to spend $600 max on fixing and enhancements.
Because of this it was the cheapest car I have owned(that I daily drove).
