Forget the LS1 I am getting sick of everyone doing LSX swaps. If you wanna do a swap, swap in an old school big block. 502 big block crate is 502hp and 567ft lbs. LS1 345hp and 350ft lbs. I saw a guy who did the 502 swap and it was sick.

Should not be to bad if you get PCM and engine harness with it. Small stuff like trans cable connector and connection of throttle body to accelorator petal, heater core and A/C hoses will be the issue. There will be some wiring issues for OBD1 to OBD2 differences as well.sigpic

I carbureated big block is much different than an LS swap, people do them because they can make BB power and be very streetable while doing so as well as great mpg.Originally posted by Fox Slaughter View PostForget the LS1 I am getting sick of everyone doing LSX swaps. yep very easy to make that same 500hp and still be lighter and get way better fuel economy.. not to mention you wont be getting that 500hp out of a stock 454 for 1000 bucksOriginally posted by DETROITMUSCLE View PostI carbureated big block is much different than an LS swap, people do them because they can make BB power and be very streetable while doing so as well as great mpg.

I bet its cheaper to get 500hp out of a 454 then a LS1.Originally posted by Yoshi94Mines about an inch bigger than Kyles. I need to get one of thosesigpicOriginally posted by ryanwarby01Put it this way, if you have a money tree a LT1 is a wood chipper!

My dad has a '73 vette with a 454. He has much more invested into his engine than I do in my LS1 and I probably have 50-75 hp on him. You can get close to 500fwhp from an LS1 with a cam swap and exhaust. Throw in a set of ported 243's for around $1000 and you will have over 500hp.Originally posted by Fox Slaughter View PostI bet its cheaper to get 500hp out of a 454 then a LS1.

why would an LQ motor be different? Its just an iron version of a 6.0 still uses cathedral port heads and everything. Reason most guys use them is because the block would be stronger making big hp on them.Originally posted by ThreeHonks View PostMeh. LS series are good motors. But if you are going to go that route, swap in an LQ series, LS3, etc...... Just something other than your basic LS1 swap. Maybe its just me, but the cookie cutter heads/cam LS1 swap is far from impressiveDoing less with more
