Yeah, thats kinda what I did when I bought the 97 SS, lol. He had the AC removed, the sway bar out, the spare and jack out, some weight removed....................and I put it all back in, lol. Its still fast, just a little more comfortable. IIRC I weigh 3620# with me in it with almost a full tank of gas. Its kinda portly but acceptable. Im guessing Joels car will weigh around 3300# when done, thats my guess. I always thought it would be cool to take an LT1 or LS1 f body and GUT IT. No nothing, and see if I could get it below 2900#. Throw in a bolt on LT1 or LS1 and you would have an 11sec car that would be a bracket race king. Eric L

I totally didnt see the additional page of comments here. Im not sure how much weight it removed but it was not as much as I'd hoped. The only thing with any significant weight to it was the compressor. I'll see what i can do about weighing it, i dont really have a scale around. But having the system out of the way is probably more of a benefit to me than the weight reduction.-Joel

I might lose a tad more weight yet if i re-arrange my pulley system and relocate the alt down below. Not sure what I am going to do with that yet.
Does anyone know if an LS1 alt is lighter? This LT1 alt is a behemoth.-Joel

IIRC the alternator I run on the Valiant is a LS1 style and its a little bit lighter, but not a lot. But it all adds up. I would also look into a manual rack so that all you have to run is an alternator. Eric L
