  • Lowered 4th gens come in!

I'm thinking about lowering my t/a as my next mod. It's my daily driver in the good weather months so what springs/shocks would be best for a "like" stock ride?

A lot of folks swear by the koni/strano setup but I'm not looking for an auto-cross setup. I just want that nice stance and to lose the fender gap. Btw does anyone here have the koni/strano setup that can share their review?

If anyone would let me ride with them that have any kind of springs that would be great just so I can see how it feels in a lowered fbody...

My suggestion would to have 2 setups, stock for winter, lowered for summer. Lowered car in snow FTL!

I won't drive it in the snow at all. It'll be garaged/stored and my little fwd Alero will tear up the snow

i had a pro kit and stock shocks all around on my last car it rode great and lowered it just enough. my current car was slammed as in my sig pick with a 3inch exhaust it wasnt tooo bad but had to watch closely for dips ect. i dont want it that low ill be going to a pro kit again prolly

well I have set up from global west that I can adjust height with spring perches and shocks have 8 way settings I mostly lower it unless driving around (like going to "the barns "I'll have to raise it up because bringing couple people with us )and already scrapping exhaust now with it slammed. But makes it nice to go back and forth just using spanner wrench

mine is droped so low that it sits on the bump stops, upgraded to pollt to help hold it, have like 1 inch of travle. rough ride on these fricken roads. in the new stuff awsome but the bumpy roads suck ass.

How is the ride comfort in yours 1badair? There's a lt1 prokit this guy is selling with kyb shocks. I like how yours are custom valves though, that must make it ride really well all together?

I have Strano's with Koni's and would have no problem letting someone ride in or drive the car to see what they think of the setup.
BTW it's not strictly an Auto/X setup, Drop springs need to have an increased rate to compensate for the lower amount of travel. You also need a quality damper to maintain control of that stiffer rate. A lot of folks seem to shy away from koni's because of the price. In short a shock doesn't know what it's being used for be it street driving, auto/x or highway cruising it simply dampens the springs oscillation. IMHO this is NOT a place to skimp on because of price, you also don't want to underestimate what a set of quality dampers can do for a car on even stock springs.

I'm trying to grasp all that stuff, it's still new to me. (spring rate, shock damnpening etc.) I just figured the best thing is to hop in a car with a lowered setup because all of the mixed reviews I'm reading up on. What's comfortable to one person might not be to another. I was pretty much set on the koni/strano setup too but just trying to see if there are any other setups that ride well over bumps and have a good 1-1.5" drop.

Craig's car handles great, and rides nicely too. Had a lot of fun over on the west side corner carving.

He's right - spend the money on good stuff for suspension.
