So, low oil pressure = Rod Knock = New or Rebuilt Engine. I've accepted the fact that I need to remove and rebuild, or remove and install a Rebuilt engine. This buddy of mine (35 year master mechanic) tells me, "Theres no way in Hell your gonna take that engine out in your driveway. The whole thing, engine, trans, axle, brake lines, everything has to come out the bottom of the car as a complete assembly" ?????????? Are you F'n kidding me???? Im so disheartened by my whole first Chevy, first LT1 expierence that if it really does HAVE to come out the bottom Im thinking of dumping the whole F'n car. Whats a 1994 Z28, no rust, 75k orig miles on trans and body, new opti, new water pump, new drive belt with a rod knock worth if I sell it the way it sits? Parting it out?? Anyone on here that can pull it out for me and put a rebuilt longblock back in? How much if so? I have no clue what to do with this thing now. I know what I want to do. Take the engine out and put in a rebuilt one, I just dont have the knowledge or the resources.

ok ill be the odd ball. no BS i prolly pulled the 383 from my 94 i had easily 7-8 times and to me out the top was the easiest way possible. and that was with a T56 so i had to **** with a clutch and all to. the main reason i pull it from the top is i dont wanna mess with the brakes and steering and all that. honestly its not worth it for me. but everyone has their way94 V6 A4>>>>LT1 M6>>>>>>383 M6 13.1 @ 109 2.2 60' Sold/Stripped

Scary for the first 5 seconds....then it's cake:

Suck it up and fix the car. It blows that your first experience is turning into a crazy project, but it's not much different from my situation. I've put maybe 600 miles on my Camaro at most since picking it up on Halloween 2008. No, my car didn't break or anything, but piecing the car back together to my specification is well worth it. No pain, no gain man. Fix it better than it was to begin with and the reward will be fantastic!

There are step by step directions on here and the internet. It is very easy and I personally would not do the engine out the top. I have pulled the out the top on other cars but droped engine 4 times out the bottom on fbody'ssigpic

You can take it out the top. That's how mine was done, the guy just took the intake manifold off, and took it out just the engine. Left the trans in the car. I told him to take it out the bottom, but did he listen to me....

E-brake doesn't do shit when your torque arm is free and allows the entire rear end (and subsequently tires) assembly to turn/rollOriginally posted by Emulsifide View PostThe e-brake was fully engaged the entire time.
DEFINITELY do it out of the bottom - it's really easy and can be done in a few hours.- Brian Meissen
