Need help with annoying squeak!

Some of you guys who were at Woodward last weekend heard it, I want it gone. It's been going for two weeks now, and It's driving me nuts. So nuts that I took it to the service center at that Chevy dealer on Mound Rd on my way back from work today. The guy (who wasn't even a technician, I have no idea what function he actually served) kept insisting that it wan an engine knock, but I think he's just trying to get the most expensive "repairs" as possible (maybe that's his job). Something that people have suggested is that it's my AC Compressor, as my AC quit working last weekend (~2.5 wks from recharge, 2 weeks from start of noise). I'm gonna take it in for a technician to see tomorrow morning, but I'm going to tell him just to diagnose, NOTHING MORE. I don't frickin' trust those guys...

My speakers make it sound like an exhaust leak...

I'm pretty sure I checked all the header bolts on the pass. side...I'll check the bolts on the driver's side first thing tomorrow morning.

ya take the belt off and start it, if the noise ceases then its pully related and more then likly your ac compressor

in person it sounds much more like a squeak...combo of crappy laptop speakers and crappy audio recording = not all that helpful :/

Best advise has already been given. Start the car with the serp belt off. That will not only let you know whether it is an accessory making noise or an internal engine problem, it will allow you to spin the pulleys freely to identify if one of them is bad, but it will also remove some noise so you may diagnose your problem.

You could try shooting the belt with WD40 before removing it. If it's a sqeaky idler, or perhaps a worn belt, it will silence the noise as it's sprayed. Also, since it seems to be going with the pulse of the motor, I'd check the header flanges, where they bolt to the exhaust system.
