      fine, here's a pic of a 2000+ steering wheel without audio controls:


      the whole thing is different. steering wheel volume controls were just a new option that was available with the new wheel. having driven cars with both wheels (my old '95, my '94, and my '96 vs my mom's 00), I'd say the older style is MUCH better. My mom's 00 V6 has the newer style wheel without audio controls.
