Yeah, thats one of my concerns as well. Although keeping it shiney isnt to much of a concern. I have been polishing aluminum for a long time and have found some great processes and products to keep aluminum looking good and relatively maintance free for quite a while. I want it to look good, but not to blingy. That was why i originally went with the brushed finish. The way i did it was first I sanded the alternator with various grits, than i polished it with a green scotchbrite pad. I was really suprised how good it turned out. The alternator has almost a billet look to it. Eric L

did you disassmeble the alternator case when you painted it, or did you tape off the black strip around the middle? Looks great. Eric L

took the pulley off, tapped of the middle, then took the tape off and painted the middle black so everything looked new.. i see you have a different cover, so i would just tape some stuff off and get some paint! lol its a poor college students way to make a stocky look decent.. thanks for the compliment!

No, thats the same case I have. I do like the looks of that. I like the fuel rail covers also. They look sweet. I polished my case to give it a brushed look and added a differant fan that i had laying around and put on an underdrive pulley. Eric L

I think it would look pretty BA with a black intake with the lines on top polished. . . Would match the fuel rail covers so it doesn't look so out of place, and I think it would really tie everything together.

Where did you get your fuel rail covers. They dont look like they would be to hard to build out of thin gage sheet metal or aluminum. Eric L

I'm VERY jealous of your engine bay. There's a detailing place not to far from my place that does engine bay cleaning, so I'm probably going to hit that up. I like the intake as it is. I think painting it red would be just a bit much. I think I'm planning on painting mine dark green with polished lines, so it will match the outside of my car perfectly. I also plan on doing chrome valve covers.

I think something else you could add that would be a subtle but personal touch is a throttle body plate:
(This is the one I plan on doing)

You can get the whole kit for like $25 on ebay.
