Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Torque converter. It really depends if your looking for hp gains or quatermile gains. You will not gain any hp with a converter, but you will definately gain more in the quater mile with a converter than the other mods. IMHO a converter is the FIRST mod that should be done to an auto 4th gen. The best way to do it is to do the converter and shift improver kit at the same time as headers, frees up a lot of room. Hope this helps, Eric L
1997 Camaro SS #2819 M6, Red, 3.42, 1 of 27, Ttops, BBK shorty headers, Flowmaster cat back, 1.6 rr, LT4 valve springs, ASAM CAI, Centerforce clutch, runs 12s, breaks 10 bolts. http://s602.photobucket.com/albums/t...20Camaro%20SS/
I wouldnt use the SLP one. I only use trans go products or gil younger/mr shift. Its just a valve body improver kit. Changes check balls and springs, etc in the valve body. But i would go with the trans go or mr shift products. Eric L

yep I am using it with my K&N setup. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Air being directed by a foil will move faster than it being interfered by the blunt center piece of the stock throttle body. Also most after market throttle bodies already have it incorporated for this reason. Also SLP supplied a lot of OEM parts for 4th gens so they are a trusted source. This thing will give you some nice gains for little cost. they say 7hp gain but it could be more with your CAI.
I could probably give you my shift improvement module for the cost of shipping once I get my programmer which will do that. but they are cheap to begin with so idk that you care, just an offer.
would that slp shift improver work for my 3.8 v6? I think it has the same trans. For $10 I think it would be worth trying
If it has the same trans it should. It is $10 but SLP has a minimum order of $25 . If you wait until I get my hypertech I could give it to you for the cost of shipping which would be maybe $3 in an envelope or give it to you at M&G.
Eric Brings up a good mod in a converter which for an Auto is a defiant must! But I still vote for Headers, Y pipe and Electric cutout. Reasoning being is nothing like a nice loud free flowing exhaust on a nice summer day and then a nice quiet exhaust when sneaking back home so you dont wake the parents up or leaving the girlfriends house I would do exhaust then converter, and Mike Ridings converter for sure!

What stall would you recomend? Car is daily driver and prolly will never see track.
Be very careful when running a 160 degree stat because you need to remember that the oil also needs to be hot in order to clean internals properly. A colder engine is more prone to creating more water, which mixes with oil, which then creates acids that attack metal on the internal parts. Also, you will see an increased amount of sludge. Fuel and water won't be able to burn off in the oil either! Colder running engines are less efficient from a thermodynamic standpoint. A 180 degree stat might be a better choice. Just my 2 cents.
The shift improver kit I was referring to goes inside the valvebody. All the programer ones do is change shift points and pump up line pressure. Eric L
