I also found out the same thing as Eric did through research, the hose from the waterpump to the radiator is not needed. I found rubber caps at Advanced Auto Parts that fit the radiator and the waterpump. Only cost about $5.00 total. Slid them on and held them in place with a hose clamp.

What is the original application for those plugs at advanced? Heating and cooling systems? Thanks Eric L

I don't remember if they had an actual application, or if they were just universal plugs. The ones that i bought were really thick rubber if that's what your getting at. The guy at our local Murrays Oreilleys actually recommended us using those plugs instead of buying the hose that goes between the radiator and the waterpump. At Murrays Oreilley it was over in the section where they have a lot of odds and ends plugs, switches, caps, and pieces.- Brian Meissen

These are the ones i bought from Adavanced Auto Parts. They state right on the back for use when bypassing heater core, or when plugging off waterpump passages. Sorry no pics of them on the car.
