  • might be done for the year too

a trip across the state followed by a day at the track finished off my fuel pump.

The car was leaning out at the track, but i managed to run my 12 second pass before it started running crappy. (12.96 at 112). I ultimately diagnosed the problem at AE thanks to kyle's pressure tester - thanks kyle. My car just rolled 95,000 miles so i guess it is due.

my car really isnt a priority right now so i might use an old stocker to save some money. My car needs a fuel pump, and a wideband the most but the shocks are driving me nuts also. Id rather not spend the money on any of it right now so we'll see what happens. Not much left in this season anyway and im not on this side of the state much.

It only a 1 hr job to change the pump Joel. Plus you do need to start and run car every 2-4 wks during the winter. If you need help B and I will help you get it done.

i appreciate the offer larry (and brian as well).

if i can get my hands on a pump i might stop by with a 12 pack and just break down and do the trap door method .... like i said i wasnt going to do

apparently i gotta come home next weekend now so maybe ill tackle it. ryan said i could take his old one with 50k on it.

the answer to that question would be that i am just trying to be more responsible with my money paying for more of my school and i also dont have the disposable income i had last summer with my internship.

im going to look into it but it doesnt seem like something i need at this point.

Glad I could help out, Joel. I just wish the pump wasn't going dead, but at least you know what the problem is.

Stab in the dark... but I have my stock fuel pump out of my old v6.. I don't have the foggiest Idea if the v6 and v8 cars had the same pumps. I had like 90k GENTLE miles on it though.. and it worked fine before I swapped it for the racetronix walbro, free if you want it. I'll never use it.

If you want to do that Joel, bring it by, I wasn't a fan of doing the trap door either but it sure makes it an easy job. Especially if you go the used route then when you have to redo pump its there. If you get a used for what ever your only cost would be a piece of sheet metal from home depot, maybe $6.00 and a tube of RTV for 5-6.00.

there is a difference. in the stock v6 to the v8. Brians car ran 2-3 months on v6 pump but it would starve out at top end. normal driving ok.
WTF is normal driving in an Fbody?

That sucks but if you do the trap door its a super fast and easy job. To be honest a lot of vehicles should have doors like that anyways. I got to work on a Mercedes last year that actually had an access door built into the trunk to access the fuel pump.
