Yeh... Personally, if it were my engine and I knew I'd be making over 450... I'd do the 4 bolt conversion and splay 'em. Rather have the insurance there than not.

No kiddin'... I'd be a mad guy too.Originally posted by sman View PostHave you had good success with these guys? My dads buddy had them build a 572 and it dropped a valve on THEIR engine dyno and they made him pay for the rebuild...... Not a happy guy.- Brian Meissen

Not totally sure what happened, but they told him they'd build him a 600 horse motor. They built it, put in on the dyno so he could see what it did when he came to pick it up, and it went kaboom. Needed a new block, head, valve-train, and possibly the rotating assembly. Thats the shops problem IMHO. He never even took delivery, and he had to pay for it to be redone.
However, when it was done it won first in its class at autorama.1999 Camaro - 6 liters of fury.....

like i had said its been a while since i got a quote, but in reality theres not that much to it, they arent adding any material, just drilling and tapping a few holes

Right! Id rather have that warm and fuzzy knowing that my $2200 bottom end kit is safe for a long time.. The extra $500 machine work is nothing in order to help keep the rest of the $18K ive put into the car safe..Originally posted by meissen View PostYeh... I will start checking into machine costs and shops as soon as i land back in the states..next week or two hopefully, thanks again for the suggestions< Black Betty >

What do you know, mine was the same way!Originally posted by 1fstss View Postmy 97 is a splayed 4 bolt, was stock 2 bolt. the bolts are angled because its harder to pull out the angled bolt. and they dont flex as much, so a splayed 4 bolt main cap is stronger by far than a stock style 4 bolt main. but the rumor of fbodies with stock 4 bolts is true. my 1st SS came stock with a 4 bolt, when we pulled the motor the 1st time i about shit when i seen it was a 4 bolt main
i actualy have a 4 bolt main LT1 block chilling in the garage
Here's a sig with my old ride: (Everyone else has a cool sig I had to do something!)
