Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Like I stated, I don't BELIEVE that it is possible to angle the two inner bolts, therefore if you take in a 2 bolt block, and say I want splayed mains, I think it comes out looking like this
Where does it say that on Summit? Can you link me?

alright i got it now.. sorry i wasnt quite tracking right away.. i thought a splayed cap all four bolts were angled.. but thats great thats not the case..
and i was f'ed up again...they have two bolt caps but they arnt splayed..only 4 bolt caps are splayed.. your right again kyle..
my 97 is a splayed 4 bolt, was stock 2 bolt. the bolts are angled because its harder to pull out the angled bolt. and they dont flex as much, so a splayed 4 bolt main cap is stronger by far than a stock style 4 bolt main. but the rumor of fbodies with stock 4 bolts is true. my 1st SS came stock with a 4 bolt, when we pulled the motor the 1st time i about shit when i seen it was a 4 bolt main i actualy have a 4 bolt main LT1 block chilling in the garage

I had good success with State Motor on Gratiot in Eastpointe. It's right across from a dealership just south of I-696. Can't remember what the dealership is/was... not sure if it's still open either... Mike Reihls or something like that?
Lol, no biggie Dave, its hard to convey things thru the internet sometimes. I honestly have no idea on the price, maybe Don can chime in how much he paid?

Whats ur setup like that you are worried about the stock 2 bolt mains anyway?!?
not so much what it is now as what im aiming for with future projects.. and id rather not dump my bottom end and waste all that money over something as a few hundered for a 4 bolt set up.. better safe than sorry?
and thanks to everyone that helped out with some info! ill deff have to start calling some of those shops..

If you can get it done for $200 by all means go for it.
I talked to my machine shop about doin it to my block and they said:
1.) It was TOTALLY unnecessary for what I was doing
2.) It would cost a LOT, $350 to install the caps, $200 for an align bore, the cost of the caps, and ARP studs for the caps
So I left the 2 bolt mains with a good align bore and ARP studs and have been spinning to 7000 with no issues (knock on wood )
well, thats supposedly when the caps will let go. Id be more concerned about the stability... an unstable cap will cause premature wear on the bearings, meaning the 2-bolt will probably spin first if you are spinning very high RPMs with less than 500 horse.
