yea, exactly. Nothing against the procharger they work great. I also prefer the whine and low end grunt you get with the roots setup.

For the price of it though I'd rather go turbo. Price for kit for an LS1: $6480...+800 for polishing

Roots has the best sound, hands down. There is nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, that can give you that classic sound we've all come to know and love.

to each their own. Id personally never do that because no turbo kit on the planet would be as reliable as this setup. plus the power band is only suited for straightline racing when im interested in auto-x as well.

That's the reason I went with something that practically is factory instead of turbo...tuning would be a *****.

tuning isn't a problem at all as long as you take it to a reputable tuner, but for what Joel is interested in a turbo would lag more so than a roots blower, on the other hand they both produce a lot of heat.

Oh yeah, that's true. I don't know a lot of people that tune Cobalts.

But I've just never heard turbo setups being super-reliable...

only bad thing about a roots blower is they heat soak fast and after they are warm, they are useless, and i wonder if that guy fabbed up a cooling setup under the blower, because if he has no cooling, that little pull he did was about the most power you would see, his next attemp would look like a stock chevette pulling a car trailor.

I don't see how they could make something that became "useless" after one use and have so many people that want and use them everyday?

well how does a terminator cobra make such good power with practically the same supercharger?

Cobras are intercooled, but heat soak doesn't absolutley kill the entire motor as Don explained but it can affect hp quite a bit.

You can get the maggies intercooled. Just as a cobra, run air/water with a heat exchanger.

I think a maggie is going on my silver car this winter

You guys realize that is a M112 right? In other words, it is intercooled.
