Ok so last sat when i left the gilmore car museum..i drove to my grandpa's place in Charlotte. Like 3 roads before his, my service engine soon light came on while i was driving. Not doing anything crazy..just cruising the country roads. I get to his house...check all my fluids, fuses, etc...everything checks out fine. The car still ran 100% perfect. The light stayed on the whole 1.5 hour car ride home. Then today was the first time driving it since last sat and the service engine soon light does not come on anymore. Still runs fine like it always has. Should i still get the codes scanned and see if anything is wrong or was it just a fluke??

Most places can only scan codes that are currently in the system when the light is on. You'll have to find someone with a good logging software that can pull codes that are saved in the history or wait till the lights are on.- Brian Meissen

Every time I've gone to Autozone to get my code scanned the first question they ask "Is the light still on? We can only scan codes if the light is on.""- Brian Meissen

If it was a o2 sensor code it would not have gone off. But your right its probaly not much to be worried about. Try to get it pulled anyway.sigpic

Sounds exactly like what happens with my car, which has a bad egr valve. I agree on getting it scanned anyway. And Brian, you have to remember, it is autozone you are dealing with, lol.

Yeah but most people asking about scanning don't have one readily available and autozone is the easiest place to get a scan done.Originally posted by my95z28 View PostSounds exactly like what happens with my car, which has a bad egr valve. My bet is that there was an o2 that went out and came back on.

That sounds familiar. I had the SES light come on this morning, and with the engine being as new as it is, I stopped by Autozone. Turned out the 1 & 2 injector banks were rich. About 5 minutes down the road, the light went out. I did, however, Friday reconnect a vacuum line that powered the climate control head. I'm chalking it up to the system relearning or a glitch. Seems to be running better.sigpic
