No! that would just let oil leak out on front and back of engine block. If you have coolant and oil mixed you have cracked head, cracked block, or maybe head gasket.

there is a lot of sludge in that engine, somebody did not change oil very regularly. Not you necessarily but previous owners, oil and water mixed gets a light brown to gray color thats black and just bad oil change maintenance.
EDIT: went back and was looking at pics again and yeah that light brown is oil coolant mixed, but sludge is more from bad oil maintenance.

Yikes. Buy lots and lots of brake cleaner - you're going to need it. That said, if you didn't live so damned far away I'd totally be down to come over and help you out.

I said it was thd middle of nowhere! i am going to drop the oil pan, pull the lifters, and flush the block with kerosene and scrub it down with plastic brushes. Then rinse it with some petrol.

Well it went pretty good degreasing with 3 cans of degreaser and 3,500 psi powerwasher! Then just lubed it up and now the bottom ends back together. The top end will be back together tomorrow or tuesday and then next weekend back in if all goes well.

wow it doesnt look like that engine has had a very good life before you. I honestly would be afraid to even re-use that engine.

Bearing's had no play what so ever, the cylinders are all very clean just looked alot worse then it really was. Bottom end is back together. Planning on getting the top end on tuesday and geting the cradle back inside the car and then next saturday getting all of the wiring done.

you should pop a couple valve springs and check the wear on your valve guides. I had worn intake guides at 80k and my engine was a LOT cleaner than that.
