Definitely trade up...I just so happen to be getting a cool 19.7mpg city more or less, driving easy though.
As for the car on ebay, I don't think it's worth his price because he said that the front end needs to be straightened...subframe bent? It's also got a salvage title, which makes it worth way less. I'm also calling a HUGE BS on his bluebook value, bluebook on my car was like $5k in great condition.
You can probably find better on Craigslist if you search for weeks and weeks straight like I did!

I say 98+
I was getting 23 mpg, until I finally wasted the rear end.

front or back? Either way the car has been in an accident. If its front you can remove the fender then there is a brace and frame wells that can be pulled straight on frame straighten machine. If its the back it can only be strighten on a frame machine, but most body shops won't touch a car that has rust because it could pull the body apart. Sounds like alignment problems. I would walk away from this car, maybe run!Originally posted by jetice91 View Posti sent the guy a message yesterday and he just said that the inner fender is bent a little. anybody on here want to chime in as how hard it would be to straighten it?sigpic

I'd talk to Kyle (Phantom383) - he bought his car wrecked, and totally rebuilt it...I think it was him at least...Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z

I'd stroke yours and upgrade to a 98+ front end. Probably cheaper to be honest. A buddy of mine put a 98+ WS6 front end on his 97 TA and it only cost about $500.2005 Yamaha R6

Ok I went back found the car on the thread your talking about, 1. salvage title means insurance company totaled car. 2. looking carefully at pic's drivers fender has pretty sever bend outwards and that means lower frame rails and upper body support bent probably both sides. This is not a bolt on new fender fix. Only usefull part is drive train to put in your car. His buy it now was like 3500 so is reserve is probably 3200. way to much considering 600-800 for shipping on top of that. For 4000 you can find one, not wrecked around here, especially come fall when a lot of people look at storing car for winter then decide to sell instead. Inmo this is not a deal.Originally posted by jetice91 View Posti know you guys say run away, but this seams like an awful good deal. plus both of my uncles are body men and one is the service manager at bobs auto body. i am going to see him tonight so i will ask him about it. i will also ask some of the wealthier family members for a low interest loan>

OBTW, Brians car had simular damage but not as sever, Insurance cost to fix was around $5,000. parts labor and paint his was more cosmetic than this one.Last edited by 98blackbeauty; June 7th, 2009, 12:00 PM.sigpic
