  • LSx Piston ring order

I was wondering if anyone knew the piston ring order. I didn't pay attention when I was taking them out for some reason. They are stock GM LS3 rings.

I know the Oil scraper rings and spring go on the bottom but I don't the order for the top two rings. One is thicker than the other both they both fit in each slot.

Any elp would be greatly appreciated

the first ring is probably flat.
the second is most likely tapered . you should see a silver line on the face. Thats the part that is actualy sealing .

I am pretty sure the stock top ring doesn't have dot(ls1)
The second should and it should face up
        What block is it?

Oil goes on bottom, top 2, ummm crap. There should be a dot or TOP for which way is up, but I cant remember if the order matters.

They both have dots on them. This is a LS3 Block 6.2L.

There is a flat ring like you mentioned and the other ring is a little thicker and the side opposite of the dot has a raised edge/tapper...
