Someone correct me if I'm wrong but based off of what I've seen in the wiring diagrams when I was doing my wiring swap it sounds like the performance button simply turns off and on traction control.

I think it increases line pressure and shift points a little.

Yeah, like I said I've got no clue - I just remember seeing them being related in the wiring diagrams.

your wrong! the performance button transforms the v6 engine int a high performance v8. then back for city driving and better gas mileage. Didn't you watch the transformer movie?

lol thats a good one.. lol... but mine is already the lt1.. i imagin it gives u a better shifting point like when u use a tow button on a newer truck.. but what i am after is when i change my console to the newer style. and they dont have those buttons. can i just snip it off or what should i do. does anyone have one in t here car that can tell me if its worth keeping it?? i haven't even driven this car yet to know ..
i know that im going to have to rebuilt the tranny cuz its slipping anyway. .. also should i keep this tranny.. or go with a tubo 400. or is this a good tranny that i can get a good shift kit for or something?? i want something that will handle about 400 + hp.. ?? and with that hp will the performance button still be worth it?? lol

I don't know about everyone else, but my performance button adds about 500rpm to each shift, and each shift is a little bit harder.

That's exactly what I experience in my car, too. In some regards it acts like a shift kit would.

I would not "just snip it off", I'm sure if you follow the wires there is a plug somewhere that can just be undone.

There is a differrence between the 2nd gear start button, and the performance button!!! Don't get the two confused, they do totally different things.
