If you find out it's a rod or main knocking you can through in some 90w gear lube in place of oil. You can still drive it as the 90w will help just don't beat on it, just cruse it nice and cool. I did this to my 78 camaro and I drove it for almost a year until I had enough money to rebuild. This does not make the knock go away it there you just won't hear it.

looks like the bad news is coming out. Sounds like short-block. rod rock somewhere. Insurance is off car and in 4 days it will not be registered with a plate. gonna pinpoint it and start stripping it to a short block. if it looks like people are saying and its not something up high im gonna yank Kmember off and pull short block for a rebuild.
