Just switched to 10w30 Royal Purple. Always used Mobil 1 syn in the past. Just wanted to try something different. I'm happy so far, I really haven't noticed much difference. I also found that Fram "tough guard" has a great efficiency rating on their oil filters, and their larger, which i would assume would be better for filtering in the long run IMO.

meaning that someone did a thorough analysis comparing multiple weights of oils under the same driving conditions [including oil temp] and then analyzing the lead content (bearing material) in the used oil. 0w-40 maintained the engine the best.

I would have to find the source of my data again i cant remember where i read it. Whoever it was posts on camaroz28.com and he did the test for LS1s too (got the same result IIRC).

Forgot to mention, this is for MOBIL 1 ONLY. Different oils had different weights perform the best, but mobil 1 was one of the best.

Pennzoil Platinum 10w-30 synthetic, only $19 for 5qt. jug and rates right with amsoil in tests but way cheaper. No fram filters ever guys, they are really junk on the inside.

My Trans Am has had nothing but Mobil 1 5w-30 and AC Delco filters since new. I've continued using that combo since I've had the car.

My Grand Marquis gets whatever is on sale that week at Autozone. I've changed the oil between 20 and 25 times and I doubt I've ever had the same combo twice. It's had 5w-30, 10w-30, Pennzoil, Castrol, Valvoline, Quaker State, Fram filters, STP filters, Wix filters, Motorcraft filters, and more. I change the oil in the Trans Am at 3,000 and I know it's still good for probably another 3,000. I think I'm going to start running my old Mobil 1 in the GrandmaLS!

I run Mobil 1 5w-30 extended performance in DD Cavalier because I run 100 miles a day for work 5-6 days a week. Between 2-2500 miles a month I need to get as long as possible out of it.

I still haven't totally made up my mind on the 80 Z yet, leaning towards Valvoline VR1.

I use the napa 10w-30 that we have at work (I get it for free). Seems to be fine on my car. Not gonna run any synthetic in mine until I rebuild the engine. No point when my rear main is seaping.
