Shift points depends on a few things.

      First - manifolds or headers?
Second - what tach are you looking at?

I shift mine about 5200 RPM on my digital tach, which is about 6k on the stocker.

I launch at 2250 RPM but light on the gas at first so it can absorb. Then as soon as the clutch grabs fully my foot hits the floor.

i added an engine oil temp guage for this reason.

Also... it completely depends on your launch technique, shift technique, and how good your clutch grabs for how much you can hot lap.

if you have a stock clutch and youre dumping the hell out of it and no-lift shifting... yea its definitely not gonna want to do that again right away.

I have no problems hot lapping my spec but mine doesnt do a whole lot of slipping even when i am banging gears. I let it cool off anyway though.

bone stock other than a cai, and I'm looking at the stock tach. On the street I will spin if I go any higher than 1200 rpm, but I'm guessing that the track will have better traction. Anyone been to milan

I will run hard and everything exept powershifting (no-lift). That is one thing that I will not do.

yea dont no-lift i was just using that as an example. basically, the ammount of slipping is what determines how hot your clutch gets, thats all.

For a stock car without headers i had best results shifting at 5k on the stock tach... so prolly like 4600 rpm in reality. yours might be different though...

Shifting technique is the one are i have been able to cut a lot of time down with. I wasnt very good at all when i first started... missed gears all the time and was slow at it. Nowadays, my shifts sometimes sound like they are no-lift even though i am lifting

its possible, but dont expect it.

You would need good track prep, at least a 2.1 60 foot and you cant be wasting time between gears. also dont take a full tank of gas!

my best is a 13.5... but thats at speedbump dragway (lapeer).

I never ran a 13 until i had headers. but i wanst the best driver before either.

Make your first time down the track like you are taking off from a stop light.

Its best to just get used to the track and the environment first. What to do, when to go, where to wait, etc..

You'll get the hang of it.. and dont expect killer times, just have fun.

lol, I don't think that they let anyone in it last year so no worries. But when I do go to a different track, do I back in and then spin tires to clean them off or stay out completly with radials
