Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

So, next week I'm going to the dragstrip for the first time. I have a 95 lt1 m6. I haven't went over 5k rpm since I got the car, but I wanted to know where I should be shifting, and what is safe on this motor.
Also, I have 275 directional street tires and I was wondering if anyone had any launching advice.
Lastly, what SHOULD a lt1 m6 car run? All I have is a cai. What would be a good goal for me?

Well I'm no LT1 guy but I believe most of them are running them out to 5500 or so rpms. You're on street tires so a burnout won't be necessary just dump the clutch and spin the tires to clean them off. As for launching its really gonna take lots of trial and error and practice to find a sweet spot but I'll let someone else suggest a few tips as I have no clue (I drove an auto lol).
Just make sure your comfortable running the car hard and don't expect to break any world records and have a good time. My guess is that you could run some 13.5-13.8s with a decent 60' time
will my car stay in place at the line with me holding the clutch in, or am I going to have to try and hold the ebrake?
make sure its at a dead stop before you left off the brake and you'll be fine, if your worried just stop so the first light comes on and if you happend to roll the 2nd comes on and you dont red light.
leave on the last yellow too!

You'll want to try launching at about 1500rpm and ease into the clutch, don't just dump it. LT1's are torquier than LS1's so you might even spin launching at that low of rpm on street tires. You can try different pressures in your tires. Start with 32psi and see how it hooks and start lowering from there till it wants to hook. My Goodyears didn't make a difference what pressure I ran, but with my Toyos, putting them down to 20psi really made them bite hard, almost as good as my MT DR's. Every car is different, so you'll need to play around with technique and launch RPM to see what works best for your car. Being your first time out, you might not even break into the 13's with your first few runs. I've seen lots of LT1 cars run at Martin and be in the low 14's. One tip, don't hot lap your car or you will smoke the clutch. Let it cool down when you get there before your first run. The more you hot lap it the worse your times will get and your clutch won't handle it. I've beat the crap out of my stocker for 30K miles and I think it's getting close to giving up the ghost now. Pedal engagement is goofy and I need to check my fluid again and see if it's dirty. I just flushed it last year too.

All Christmas trees are the same top to bottom - yellow pre stage light, stage light, yellow, yellow, yellow, green, red. You want to leave on the 3rd yellow light. If you wait till you see green, you'll have a really slow reaction time.
