Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
I just don't get it. It's like guys are afraid of turning wrenches so they cut up their cars instead.....sad.
Do it right, drop the rear.
eh, im not sure what i am going to do when mine dies. I dont want to cut mine up, but dropping the axle, exhaust, and gas tank is not exactly something i feel like practicing. (and ive done that already less the gas tank) The "trap door" is something these cars should have been equipped with from the factory in my opinion. I highly doubt that area is structurally significant.
Hell it takes me nearly 40 minutes to get my car safely that high in the air unless i use my uncles hoist.
On the contrary, now that i have taken everything apart once and installed grease fittings, it should come apart much easier than it did this winter.

I tried to post this earlier, but it didn't make it. The pump kit that I received did not have any glue in it, what type of glue holds the two halves together, yet are able to separate them later on at the seam. Something tells me that the glue is going to get "dissolved" by the gas?

Well when I have to do mine I'll do the trap door for this very reason.
Josh (yoeasy69) who is on this site put a fuel pump in his car and did the trap door.
On his way to GA for his next post ( he is a Marine) his pump quit because his plug came loose.
20 min later he had it fixed and was up and running on the side of the road all because he did the trap door.
That right there is enough to make me do it even if I don't need to change the pump.

Well, I did the "trap door" route. Was still fairly difficult to get at the lines. All in all I'd say it was a pretty hard job to do, mainly because the lid would not fit on the pump bucket, so that too had to be modified. If I ever have to perform this again, it will WAY easier since I'm now familiar with the procedure(s).
Once I got everything back together, i reconnected the battery, ran a jump wire from the fusible link box to the pump terminal next to the PCM and the pump ran instantly. Turned the key to run a couple times and BOOM it fired right up. VERY excited about it too. Cant wait to start driving it.
Waiting for the Radiator Cover to be completed, get my new front spoiler both built from Stainless. And will be polished.
Next repair is a clutch. I'll probably wait 'til next month sometime to tackle that. Thinkin' if I get an early start on a Friday am, I should be done sometime in the afternoon, or sooner if I had a volunteer helper.
Thanks a ton guys for the help on this. For those of you whom are going to replace your F/P, cut the door and buy a good pump.

You can reach the plug from under the car.....also, if you re-install the safety clip, the plug cannot come loose no way, no how.
i did the trap door and glad i did it. hence my new pump is screwing up, i can change the pump in 10 mins no joke. you cant see the access panel and it dont hurt anything. its not like ur hacking a sub frame come on guys..

I still believe its a hack job. and like said before... if you re-install the clips they can't come loose... so do the job and do it "completely" and you wont need to go and connect the connector. 10 miles down the road.
