yet another thread that is making me want to replace mine while my rear axle is out.... $$$ though!

Id just bite the $ and just do it Joel, they went in (the hard way taking rear and exhaust out) to replace my sending unit, found the pump was in really bad shape and there was basically nothing left of the strainer bag, so I just replaced it at 88k. At least now I have the reassurance of it being new.
