I was driving home from school today and got all the way to Hall Rd. when my car just died. Half tank of gas, engine temp normal, has oil, battery charged. Don't know whats wrong with it. Had my cousin meet me at the resting place and he cant tell me whats wrong. Does anyone have a scan tool or anything? Car will run for a few seconds, HORRIBLY, then eventually die. If anyone thinks they can assist me call my phone (586) 610-9220. Thanks

Pushed the car back to my driveway, she's somewhat safe now.
On a side note, does anyone have an extra / know where I can get a new intake elbow? Mine is a little worse for wear1994 Z28 Black, M6, Hardtop, SLP Loudmouth I, GM Performance Cold-Air Intake, 96-97 SS spoiler, 17" x 9.5" Chrome Z06 Motorsports, Longtubes

Everytime something happens to my car I say Opti but I never had to replace it and I've got over 130,000 miles on mine. Don't just assume thats your problem. You could have a fuel issue, bad coil, poor ground, bad sensor. Check the easy stuff first. A clogged fuel filter is alot easyer to change than an opti.

As of right now I think our final diagnosis is that I have a faulty fuel pump. My cousin took a second look and we noticed my fuel pump isnt making any noise when the car is turned on... We are waiting on a fuel pressure gauge, even though we already know I have no pressure1994 Z28 Black, M6, Hardtop, SLP Loudmouth I, GM Performance Cold-Air Intake, 96-97 SS spoiler, 17" x 9.5" Chrome Z06 Motorsports, Longtubes

I had a clogged filter once that was the problem. I drove my car last year for most of the summer and you couldn't even tell the fuel pump was on. Just because you can't here it doesn't mean its not working. If you end up needing a new pump, go with the Walbro Hotwire kit. Cut yourself a trap door above the gas tank for an easy swap.Originally posted by 94_LT1_Z28 View PostAs of right now I think our final diagnosis is that I have a faulty fuel pump. ok, i am getting close to being the Fuel Pump Guru around here..

i put a new one in about 5 or 6 k ago, and while driving to NC to my new duty station, the car died out again. long story short, several parts and many hours of diagnosis, and talking with my friend ( phantom 383) not to mention many many dollars spent.. i finally broke down and bought a new fuel pressure tester. poof, fuel pump took a crap.. if you can't hear it, chances are its not running. however it will turn off after a few seconds when you turn the key on but not the motor, cause it primes the fuel rails, also keep in mind just because it is running , does not mean it is pumping either..
test the fuel first thing, and go from there, change your filter, like 7 bucks and they clog pretty easy.and easy to get to.. and then change your pump.
don;t buy a cheap one off ebay.. a whole swing arm assembly from autozone, murrays and advanced will run you 250. (they have a warranty)
and the walbro hot wire kit will be about the same.. - about 25 bucks go with the walbro.. youll be better off and you will be set for any mods later on...

Yeah with mine. after I turn the key, you hear absolutely nothing. Even if we crank it and try again, still not making any noise. Today we're gonna check and see if its receiving power before we go and replace it. the i guess we'll go from thereOriginally posted by Yoeasy69 View Postok, i am getting close to being the Fuel Pump Guru around here..

just replaced my fuel pump today. I was really scared to start it, but it really wasn't all that bad. probably took me 3 hours max. little rubber check seal at the bottom wasn't holding pressure. and now I have a trap door in my trunk!!
