Alright everyone, I need some help.
I decided to save a few bucks and gain the satisfaction of knowing it was done right, and I dove into a car alarm installation. I got everything hooked up, and it works great, except for the power door lock system. I just can't figure out how I need to wire this in.
Most cars use a relay setup so that when the system is at rest, or not being used, the wires are at 12 Volts constantly, and the locks operate by grounding out the wires.
1993-1995 F-Bodies, however, used what's called a "5-Wire Reverse Polarity" door lock system. This system doesn't use any relays, the power goes to the 3 position door lock switch, which then sends the power directly to the door lock motors.
My next point is that in the 1993-1995 F-Body with Factory Keyless Entry, there must have been something wired in to make the factory system lock/unlock the doors, and I'm hoping that I can simply tap into that system. Otherwise, I'm going to have to figure out how to wire up a relay system so that both the alarm, factory keyless system, and in-car switches work.
Another snag I've hit is that the power door locks are disabled after the dome light goes off upon exiting the vehicle, so I need some way to "Wake Up" the BCM before the power door locks will work. Unless, of course, I can tap into the existing Keyless Entry System. . .
Any help will be much appreciated. I just don't want to blow any more money than I already have on this without being sure that it will work. . .
