  • 1.6 roller rocker install question

I bought some Harlan Sharp 1.6 roller rockers,. 3/8" stud, Nsa. Since our Lt1's don't come with guide plates, I'm gonna need to install some. A lot of info online is really wishy washy, some say certain plates rub, others don't, that Lt1's are specific to a certain plate, other's say it's no different than a standard 350 setup. I plan on upgrading the springs since I'm gaining lift, but:
Will the standard length pushrods still work okay? (I plan on upgrading for strength)
Is there a certain brand guide plate that works best for the LT1?

I haven't installed rr's before, just SA standard rockers. I'm familiar with setting zero valve lash, I just need to make sure I'm not missing anything. I read somewhere about needing longer pushrods for 1.6 nsa rr's, Just hoping for something concrete, factual lol.
Do I have to replace anything besides the rockers? Will everything still fit together right?

Sic96 I used GMPP guide plates on mine. This was 10 years ago, so i couldnt tell you where i got them from, maybe GM parts direct? If that doesn't turn anything up I can do some digging.

I'm not familiar with differences between LT1'sand early smallblocks. So I can't comment too much on the guide plates. I know that they do make adjustable if you end up needing them. Since your changing the rocker arm ratio, your changing the valvetrain geometry, and its possible you may need a different pushrod length. As far as checking for pushrod length, Once you have your springs and new guideplates installed, Mark the top of the valve stem with magic marker. Install the pushrods and rocker arms and adjust the rockers. I normally only check 1 intake and 1 exhaust. Turn the motor over a couple revolutions, take the rocker back off and look at the pattern in the marker ink on top of the valve. It should be somewhat centered. If not, they do make an adjustable pushrod ( I made my own from an old pushrod) to check and see what length you will need.
