1st gens are getting harder and harder to obtain these days (rareity and cost) so unfortunatly yes. 4ths are cheap and 5ths are plentiful. All gens are welcomed here though.sigpic

In my opinion, most first gens are owned by older gentlemen who have no use for forums like these. Plus, their cars are usually finished and don't wish to tweak it anymore. The "if it ain't broke don't fix it" idea comes into play.
Love to see older camaro threads though, it refreshes the 3rd and 4th gens around here.1991 Camaro RS: "Tiny Turbo Mullet"

Very few active people here with first gens. My brother has a 68 Camaro RS 4 speed and my older sister has a 67 Firebird convertible with the 400, 4 speed, and 12 bolt. Spent quite a bit of time wrenching on them, just ask if you have any questions!

I asked this because of the lack of threads in the forum which triggered my memory of going to the Ypsi show twice and being disappointed in the lack of 1st gens and even 2nd gens. As for being old, well, I'm 57 years old but if you met me and talked to me you'd think I was 17. Most of the people that know me say that I act like a 17 year old. I don't think first gens are any more expensive to do than the newer ones. 2nd and 3rd need the same things done to the chassis to make them handle horsepower and handle (exception to handling caveat are the IROCs). Paint is expensive whether its covering the quarter panel of a '69 or an '89. I think it probably has more to do what you grew up with. I got my '69 in 1984. No kids, no house. It is just getting on the road now. Had to take my time. When I had the money, I had no time. When I had the time, I had no dough. Now I am lucky enough to have both and get it done. Should be out of paint jail at end of this month. This summer I cruise in it then I put a roller cam, Pro-Filer heads, and a F.I.R.S.T. tpi on it. Now, if I didn't have my Camaro I would be driving a 10th Anniversary Trans-Am with a hopped up Pontiac 400 and a manual six speed in it. I graduated from Michigan State in '79 so that was the car back then.
I have pretty much done it all to my car so if I can be of any help answering questions about your first gen, step right up to the mic.Last edited by Cool Rocking Daddy; April 11th, 2015, 04:06 PM.
