Not sure dumping 30 grand min into that car would be worth it. Looks pretty damn nice.

That car looks great in the photos. What exactly does it need, restoration wise? Is there rust issues that don't show in these pics? Does it just basically need a paint job? How serious is this guy about taking it to a serious shop? It's won't be cheap if he truly wants a first class restoration shop to do this car.

There are two shops that come to mind. Both are among the very best in the entire country.

          One is "Wings Auto Art"

          http://www.wingsautoart.com

Simply the best. Not for someone on a budget, though.

And "Supercar Specialties" in Portland, MI

          http://www.yearone.com/leader_ads/tieman.html

Both of these shops do perfect restorations for the country's top car collectors and will have a waiting list to get your car in there. There are none better.

I know these cross ram 302 cars if matching numbers can be worth HUGE money.

I dont think its a monetary issue, I think getting it done RIGHT, the first time is the goal.

Body wise I think it just needs paint, it was fully redone in '92 I think?
Wants the motor pulled and "freshened up" new seals and bearings, but otherwise stock and original.

Then either of those two is where he needs to go.

Its a VERY Nice car, but not a 100 pointer yet. He has other cars he drives this is more of a "Ive always wanted one of those things". He does drive it, and im sure it will be driven once its done, just not very often.

Trying to get him to join, and his son too, hes got an all original 82 iroc z, also a very nice car.

                  --Double post auto merged--

Hes also got the other hood and intake that came with it as well I believe.

I was going to suggest both of these places but I see Doug beat me to it .

Nile Wing and Scott Tieman are both great guys anddo great work.
Both Scott & Nile have done some really awesome cars. If I had a pocket full of money I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to have either one of them do a car for me.

If its and 82 its not a IROC-Z. IROC-Zs were only built from 1985-1990.

All cross rams were sold "over the counter" or "dealer installed"...never installed by the factory...thus none of them are technically "original"...

And if you really want to make this a 100 point car, be prepared a good 6-months and 1000 hours (or more) to get it there...100 point restos include all factory paint markings and replacing all non-original parts with NOS or equivalent.

Every component will come off, be stripped and re-finished.

If you can do it for less than $75K, you've done well.

Hope he's not doing it as an investment, as 100 point restos are virtually always more than what can ever be recouped from the vehicle.

That car should be enjoyed for what it is. That car was designed from day one to tear up the streets. Cars that sit in a bubble or garage are a shame. I understand if it has crazy low mileage, but that thing should be out cruising every weekend making girls panties wet.

Currently everything on it is original or NOS. Not sure on the mileage, but its low. BUT thats not the point of this thread, I didnt ask if it SHOULD be restored or driven, I asked WHO and HOW it should be restored...
