09 Camaro, you gettin one?

I highly doubt they would disappoint the Camaro buyers by only producing 8 for the first year. 150,000 seems about right to me. For all the hype and how many car shows they are putting it in, it would be a HUGE disappointment.

Actually 150,000 sounds like way too many . . . 50K is more reasonable I think, and here's why. Both the Mustang and the Challenger are direct competitors who will be on the market first. The Camaro may very well be a better car than those two, or it may not (opinions are many and varied!) BUT it's a fact that very few domestic cars these days, of any stripe, sell 150,000 of a single model in a single year. This isn't the Sixties any more, and there are many models available in a highly saturated, fiercely competitive market. Added to that, this car is for a "specialty" segment (i.e. 2+2s are not usually family-friendly), so they would be very lucky to sell 150K.

Plus, it will actually be good for GM for the car to be in demand, because it keeps resale value up and keeps excitement up about the car into the 2nd, 3rd, 4th years and beyond. Look at the Chrysler 300 . . . you couldn't find one the first year, and now they are still popular four years later. They made about 75K of those the first year (I think.) Production has increased, so now I would guess they are selling 125K a year, and now every dealer has a few sitting on the lot - just enough to give customers a color choice without having to order & wait six weeks.
