You can't turn launch control "on and off" it is a process.
1. Stop the car
2. Put in neutral, release clutch
3. Floor accelerator
4. clutch in, and shift to first
5. dump clutch and hold on
It sounds like the problem is the output shaft, it is breaking. This is probably just a flaw in a small batch of cars. As the article (or somewhere on camaro5) said, this is a tremec transmission. It is used in the ZO6 and the GT500 to name a few others. It can definitely handle the power, so that's not the problem. So it does not sound like a design flaw. My guess, as with everyone else's is that it is only in a small batch. They said the engineers are working to get it solved.
I would just ask everyone to be patient and not immediately jump on the "the new camaro sucks" band wagon. It is going to have it's problems early on. So far there hasn't been anything that has been a big deal, I'm not worried about anything personally.
