I think the SS will be the car everyone has, and for 2012 they will make Z28 a low production number car. Chevy seems to have SS everywhere these days.

as the article said all programs are on the table right now (as they are all being scrutinized) the Z was never going to be a large production number vehicle and probably will still be made in limited production

It's all going to depend on who is going to get elected in Nov.!!!!!!!!
I belive that GM could delay it as much as a year till 2010 and I have heard that rumor also.

Unless we start to become a Country that can sustain it's self we will kill any hopes of new Muscle Cars.
I wouldn't be surprized if the CAFE laws get moved up?
We also have to remember that GM can't just make a Camaro because it will be cool and will make us feel better or it's fait will end up like the GTO, DEAD.

I have noticed a bunch of used Muscle cars in dealerships, peoeple just can't aford to pay 4.30 a gallon and make end's meet anymore.

Just like all of you, I would like to see the Camaro come out but I have no intention of buying one, it's just not in my budget.

I do belive that GM could sell 80,000 of them the 1st year but after that I think they will see a majior fall off.
Price will have a lot to do with that also.

80,000 really isn't that many...I would expect them to at least double that number, especially the first year.

For comparison, Ford sells about 150,000 Mustangs a year.

Anyway it doesnt surprise me. a REPUBLICAN president just signed a 35mpg gas mileage mandate and we ARE going to notice the effects of it. And for those that think it will come out later, I highly doubt that. The further along the timeline we move, the closer we need to be to the mandate that has already been moved ahead of schedule.

The Z-28 will be delayed due to this no doubt, but the faster they bring the Volt to market the better. The Volt will help offset the average MPG mandate and breathe life into the Z. (Let's hope!!)

Jeeezzz.....like we're all a bunch of idiots that don't realize that we are buying a muscle car that isn't designed or built for 35-40 MPG. Not to kick the proverbial horse, but the Z28 is the one thing about this car that belongs ONLY to this car. SS is friggin plastered all over everything.
