The other observation im making is that if the side of the car is all one piece, as they said... man that is going to be some huge repair costs!!! I hope its just a framerail underneath the body so the sheetmetal can be replaced.

Looks like the decision was made early on to go with a sunroof...it would be a whole new die to try to go with t-tops...and you'd lose quite a bit of vehicle integrity.

And then they would have to re-validate the vehicle (i.e. millions of $$$) and not be guaranteed of success.

lol, if you would like to consider the two seconds of space in the back of my 4th gen a trunk, go right ahead.

lol, I didn't say it was a trunk, but because its not and there is limited space they did a very good job designing a way to store the tops in the 4th gens. What I mean is, storage of the T-Tops is going to severely cramp trunk space & access to it because no matter how they do it, they are going to be big. With a T-top 3rd or 4th gen, you know your space is limited and if you want the tops out you have to leave that available.

the roof has a "reverse mohawk" in it, and if the t-bar was the size of the mohawk, they wouldnt be that bad. It would be a somewhat wider t-bar like on the 2nd gens... and a wide t-bar would a be a good place to relocate structure to.

but on the size note.... the whole car still looks huge to me, especially the height.

Its one of many things I don't like about it. I did enjoy listening to the reps talk, but I still could care less for the car.

I dont see t-tops happening, just to many reasons for them not to work.

But Joel you brought up something interesting, repair cost. If that is indeed one panel down the entire side of the car, I think these would be considered totaled quite easily.

Well...1st-Gen Camaros never had T-tops, neither did the first half of 2nd-Gen Camaros.

The car is tall because it's based on the 1st gens which were more muscle cars than sports cars like the 3rd and 4th gens were. That's the biggest reason for decline of sales in the 4th gens is that they're too low and hard to get in and out of and most non car people thought they were too sports carish. It was pretty funny to see my dad, who is 65, try to get in and out of my 00 V6. The now nearly middle aged crowd that was around when the first gens came out, don't want a low sports car to crawl in and out of. They want something more like the original cars with all the modern conviences and power.

Actually, a lot of cars had T-tops.

The Corvette actually had the first.
