Actually it does. You take some width out of the rear fenders and suddenly the lines that went from the fender onto the door are going to be smaller because of the missing width of the fenders. It doesn't help that the white tends to hide the body lines. Here is a similar angle shot of the concept for comparison:

i'm glad it is looking this way. i love when they refine the concepts into a normal ****ing car. concept cars look stupid.

I see what you're saying Joel. It looks like they did away with the entire vent system in front of the rear wells. That's a bummer because it set the flanks off from the mustang and charger.... Those mirrors look wrong...

The vents are still there, they just don't have the aluminum fin inserts the concept had. The mirrors are just slightly larger versions of what was on the concept. I think they look fine and aren't overly large for production mirrors.

one of the big things they lost was the lower body line - which i think is a major mistake from a styling standpoint

i'll reserve finally judgement till i see one in a decent color with full trim - but for right now i'm starting to get disappointed

if youre going to make a car narrower, you make the entire damn thing narrower. you dont just select parts here and there, and narrow them, leaving others the same... unless your GM of course

the vent system and lower body line as todd was saying is way less noticeable, and therefore way more boring.

It looks like it lost all of the "sharpness" and the hard edges....the side looks a little too bland and bulky for me but it could be the paint as well....so far the challenger is leading in my book

I think it looks more in line with a 69 now instead of being an exaggerated version of a 69.

69 bodies had significantly more curve. the doors were not 6 feet tall and flat.

im tending to agree, but they ****ed up the same things challenger ****ed up. Theyre both tall, narrow behemoths with tall, and unshaped side panels. Height may be mandatory nowadays, but height looks even worse when theres no shape to it.

pictures lately are making me feel like the 5th gen isnt going to be my "halo car" i spend the next decade of my life persuing I'll still want one of course, but Im definitely not as excited about this as i was 3 years ago. Could also be im so tired of waiting.

There's plenty of body lines...just white tends to hide them. I can see the lower body line as in the concept, just not as pronounced. Thank government regulations for all the changes that had to be made.
